Today we ran the Run For Your Life Free 5K as a family. It was about 25 degrees outside, but everyone did soooo good! I am so proud of the kids. Every time that Nathan or I run a race, the kids have said they want to run too. We felt the free race was the perfect time to let them try. The girls did excellent. Kiah came in 5th for her age group at around 32 minutes, and Ashlee came in 6th at around 33 minutes. We are still waiting for official chip times to be posted. Nathan was a little before Kiah. He said he was actually afraid she was going to beat him and he would not be able to get her picture.
I stayed with Adam, who was so excited to do this. He was really tired by the end and we walked and ran whenever he could. He fell down once, but he never said that he wanted to quit. I am VERY proud of him. When he realized that the finish line was in front of us he took off! I didn't think he had anything left in him, but he sure did. Since it was a free race, they were "recycling" the medals and trophies from 2007 that had never been claimed. So, after all the prizes were given out, there were a few left overs and they let the kids pick something. They all got nice trophies and Adam was so happy about that!
I loved that we could race as a family. Nathan and I have always wanted to be an active healthy family and I think we are on the right track.
